DEBUT GAME:
GREAT WIN FOR HUMMELs
Team Hummel 5
Opponents 2
Hummel's debut game was one
of the most exciting game this year.
They produced a convincing 5-2 win
in their tea-time trip to Pasir Ris Crest Secondary on Saturday.
And, it was the opponents who gave the Hummels a scare before their game with their scary looking faces.
Good news for Hummels was the earlier than expected arrival of Rusydi Asyraff. Unfortunately, there were few changes to
the team due to absentees.
(Adib Aiman-Injured toe)
(Dzulkifli Sabri - 1 match suspension)
The Hummels were aiming to get back to winning ways on the road after avoiding success in any of their previous two away games.
Hummels, in black/yellow shirts and black shorts, kicked off on what was a quite mild evening in Pasir Ris. It has been quite a pleasant day there and the sun was just starting to reappear as the game begun.
Saulhamyd opened the match in the centre of midfield with Rahmat Katne & Md Sadiq. Md Azree and Md Hafiz were on the wings.
Pasir Ris was, as always when Hummel visit, alive with noise as the game got rolling, surprisingly, it was the Hummels who looked the livelier of the two sides during the first few minutes. Both Xiang Yi and Md Azree were looking in the mood to cause the opponent defence an uneasy evening.
Being the home side, the opponents were high in confidence. Their travelling time to the match was 1/3 nearer as compared to the Hummels.
Those confidence, however, were dealt a major blow in the 9th minute when Hummels swept upfield to take the lead. The midfielders made it all possible with darting runs that took them past the halfway line. Opponent's captain, rushed out to try and take the ball when it was released to Md Azree on the left, but Azree rounded the skipper before hitting a rising shot into the net.
Hummel’s single-goal lead began to look a little fragile, then, in the 16th minute, the opponent's attack made an impact. After a horrible mistake by defender Md Nikman, the home strikers took advantage and manage to poke the ball above the on coming goalkeeper, Abd Hafiz.
Opponent’s fightback was ended abruptly after Hummel grabbed their second goal. Md Sadiq was the scorer with a 4-yard toe-poke which zoomed passed the goalkeeper's despairing grasp.
Fluidity was always in Hummel's attacks and some exciting passing and movement off the ball throughout the first half. The second half started in much the same fashion with Md Osnan replacing Md Sadiq.
There was worse to follow for the home team in the early minutes of the 2nd half. Md Azree charged through the opponent's defence, minutes after the half time whistle was blown. Defender's persistent pressure on him was useless as they concede a corner. Taken by Abd Hafiz, playing at right back this time, the ball drop neatly for Saulhamyd to head home for their 3rd goal. It was a well executed set piece.
Hummel’s three-goal lead in the first hour had pretty well decided the outcome of this match.
In the 67th minute, a flick by Md Azree leaves Md Hafiz open after the defence was slow to react. The supposingly defensive midfielder took the pass into his stride, incisively placing his shot past the goalkeeper into the bottom right corner.
Hummel's youngsters acquitted themselves well, playing with confidence and not afraid to show their skill and take players on. Saul, Azree, Hafiz and Rusydi were all lively, while Rahmat looked comfortable alongside Saifuddin in the centre of defence. The two centre-backs were very focused for the entire 2nd half, disrupting the opponent's continous attacks.
Saifuddin in particular was in exceptional form as he commanded the defence due to Md.Nikman playing in goal. However, Saifuddin's performance were overshadowed by Saulhamyd and Khairul Nizam. Khairul Nizam, labelled as the dedicated left back, didnt give the opponent any space on the left flank. Unsurprisingly, Saulhamyd deserves the man of the match due to his VPower stamina in the heart of the field.
Yet more heartbreak was to follow for the home team. First opponent's striker had a goal disallowed for offside, then after 74 minutes Xiang Yi added to Hummel's lead, as he beat the offside trap to slot the ball into the net for the 5th goal.
Md Sadiq and Rusydi display bristled with skill and verve as the Humms dominated the match to win their first game in the new kits. Six minutes from time opponents grabbed a consolation goal through an own goal by Md Nikman, who got on the end of the opponents’s dangerous cross as he tried to punch the ball forward. However, the ball swerved and drop into the net.
The fans were impressed by the versatility shown by the Hummels, especially Md Osnan, Abd Hafiz and Rahmat. There were no complaints from them when they were asked to play in different positions throughout the 2nd half.
In the end, Hummels deservingly win the match. It was an impressive display by the team even though they were without Adib and Dzulkifli.
